Ok I have come into some money and been looking at new heads for my truck its a 1971 f100 with a stock 302. What would begood heads to order for it. Im not looking to boost the hp or performance just looking for good heads to put on it without spending an arm and a leg because I need other parts for it aswell.
Search for a set of refurbished F3ZE or F4ZE GT40 heads.. they're going to be pretty close to the same as the stock head that was on this motor only with hardened valve seats and better port design.

And with slightly larger valves and ports. He'll want to mill em about .040 too, to get the GT40 chamber down closer in volume to his stock heads (unless he runs across a set that came off a Mustang GT40 motor, these have already been milled down)
I wont have any compression issues or anything else with either of those 3 xcept milling the gt40s?
The heads you have now, have 58-60 cc chambers. The non mustang GT40 heads had 64 ccc chambers, which will lower the ratio by about a half point. The Mustang only GT40 heads got a couple of extra passes on the milling machine at Ford to reduce the chambers to a "nominal" 60 cc's. These will not change your ratio to any extent.
Blue04.5 how much for the heads without the shipping? And so idealy I need to look for some gt40 heads that came off a mustang from the factory? That are in good shape

No. I would look for them off any application that had GT40 heads, then do any work that's necessary before installing them. Chances are you'd pay more for those off a Mustang 5.0, simply because they're off a Mustang 5.0. The Lightnings had em, as did the 96-mid 97 Explorer/Mountaineer 5.0's you can find these in the J'Yards now for a song.
You don't have to, but if you want to maintain the same comp ratio you have now, you might want to mill them. Don't mill em more than .040 though, the more you mill the closer towards the centerline of the engine the intake bolts get. According to Ford they can be milled up to .040 before having to enlarge the intake bolt holes to get the bolts and holes to line up. I had to do this on a pair of Canfields that I milled .060. Just make certain they didn't come off a Stang 5.0 before milling.
I know your saying your not interested in more power and on a budget but if its possible, maybe save a couple hundred more and get a set of aluminum.
1000 to 1300 low end edelbrocks, e-streets, as one example others are out there, factor in adjustable rockers, be surprised how inexpensive it can be to get into aluminum heads.
Unless you can get a set of iron gt40/gt40p heads fully checked and ready to go on the cheap....machine work adds up fast and will make you regret not going aluminum.
Not saying the gt40/gt40p arent decent for a mild build, just saying aluminum heads are more affordable and available, than they used to be.
