289 heads

i have a mild built 78 302 in a 83 mustang. im looking at some 65 289 heads. i understand that the compression goes up around 10-10.5 to 1 with stock flat tops. will the heads be worth the trouble? i know the valves are the same size but my engine really suffers on compression... 8.5-1 what can i expect for a power increase? has anyone done this before that was happy with the gain? i plan on getting a open plenum intake and rejetting for the higher compression. my 302 makes 312 dynoed hp now and with the 289 heads, which will be ported, and the other mods id hope for 340-350 hp...

Spend your money on new aftermarket heads or Ford aluminum take-offs, the old heads don't have hardened seats and will require much money to get in shape.
