That far? It takes all of ten seconds to reach down and pull the chip, and that's doubling the time it actually takes because you're being gentle.

Just make sure your keys are in your pocket first.

Uummmmm, do you have a fancy setup that exposes your chip? Cuz I've got a big *** plastic cover that needs to get unbolted to expose the PCM, then some tape, then the chip comes off. There is no simple 10 seconds of chip pulling.

Ohhhhh, of course! My bad, here in Cali I have to have it easily accessible to pull for the smog checks we have every two years.

Yes, mine is setup to remove and reinstall very easily.

That makes a lot more sense, thanks bud

Yet another reason I have zero desire to live in California

Yeah, the plastic blocker piece is gone on mine. I used to have it all nice and taped up too, nice and sealed.

All that went away the first time I had to pull my chip.

Ahhh...yes, ye ole Batmobile transform mod...aka 'Easy un-Chip'

I want to avoid any unnecessary wear on the chip/board interface. I hear they are picky.

I found the right box. Behind a jungle of cables and harness. I think I found the excuse to order a borescope, LOL!

Got it!

Still not sure why AE couldn't retrieve my door code, but my daughter and I used our new borescope connected to a 10.1" Android tablet, which made it really easy.

Here's the endoscope/borescope we purchased. It is rigid, except the last 6"-8" which is flexible on the micro-USB end.

Be careful if you want a borescope, many of them are floppy and cannot be bent into a rigid shape, which the one above can.

I did find the USB port on my phone has trouble keeping the usb connection. I believe it is in part due to the many, many plug/unplug cycles of my phone

My tablet works great, but a second set of hands (I recommend a daughter) is helpful.

Oh- and dump the software the vendor offers for download and download Camera Fi from the Play Store instead. Simple

It is only 640x480, has adjustable LEDs on the end, which looks un-exciting in a room, but within a few inches- just fine!
