77 f350 with a 351m soon to be 400 engine. borg warner t18 tranny. had clutch problems today it wont release when you push on the clutch pedal so I started it in gear and drove it home through the country. im looking for a clutch kit and was wondering if anyone could offer any advise/suggestions?
You may have broken a clutch finger, it's happened to me many many years ago in a 75 ford van. Luk clutches have always worked for me in light duty trucks. Thats anything that doesnt pull a bobcat or have a dump or cargo box on it. Centerforce or Mccloed shaeffer if your working it.
Thanks a lot! Im gonna pull it tomorrow and see what the trouble is. figured id go ahead and put a kit in it regardless. what a great forum you all have here. im excited to be a part of it.
thanks for the breakdowns numbers dummy. I wasn't thinking linkage issues just because the pedal feels fairly normal. ill find out if I get it pulled out this week. Im gonna try and print those though they will more than likely come in handy. I plan on building this truck as my wallet allows. I want a good solid dependable workhorse when im done. Be able to drive cross country without worry and still get off the road and root in the mud when I feel the need. A 400 crank and pistons, 600cfm carb, aluminum intake and 2 bbl heads, Decent headers and exhaust should get me at least 325hp. Axle lockers seem to be a must have as I wasn't real impressed with it in the mud.(I thought I got stuck way too easy!) I work on mining machinery in an underground coal mine so im hoping with the help of this forum and my mechanical experience I can build a rock solid workhorse.
