Did you by chance bump it into or out of 4x4? you will get a loud bump on pavement when shifting into 4x4 on turns.
Don't think the water is related (A/C) unless your compressor kicked in with a bang.

Well, you may have the winning guess. Spoke with the tech and that was his first guess based on my description and symptoms. They should be looking at it shortly. Feel SO much better than I did last night......

Das boot was the problem. Awaiting part and should be back roadworthy this afternoon. Phew.................that BOOM scared the ****e out of me.

a lot of times the boots get some oil on them and then they will slip off. Not the best clamps sometimes.

but man..............it sounded like I blew a tire out or something far more nefarious.............I wonder if my shorts are covered under warranty

Boots yes under 36/36.


But..shorts are not as expensive either.

all in all, the warranty charge was 260 (parts and labor) so i guess I wouldn't have been too worried about it if i had to cover it out of pocket.............it wouldn't be covered under the powertrain warranty (100k) though? Seems like it should, no?

Oh well, forced me to get my 30k routine service completed too while it was there. One less thing to do this weekend.
