Issue

So I was turning into my neighborhood tonite, when I got a really loud thud and a major hesitation in the engine. Fortunately I was in my neighborhood and could basically coast to my house.

No CEL came on and I don't seem to have any leakage (only thing dripping underneath was condensation from a/c I believe). Obviously too late for service tonite, so have tow scheduled for 7am. Any ideas on what could have happened? The no CEL has me confused. I was able to restart it and it seems to idle fine, but give it has and it hesitates.

Just walked out to look and definitely only thing that leaked was water as there is no stain under truck (meaning it dried up). Started again and more water leaking at a pretty good clip. Any thoughts?

I would not think so.

You have very limited info so really it is just hard to say.

If it helps, water leakage seems to be passenger side just a bit rear of the front wheel well.......

Then I doubt it is the water pump.

Have you popped the hood and sorta looked around? If it is an intercooler boot or blown hose, it may be fairly easy to spot.

Also look at the underside of the hood when it is up. That might clue you in on where the water/fluid came from as might have been thrown up against the hood.

If it tries to crank and won't in the morning you may have sucked a valve or a glow plug may have broken apart, but this doesn't sound quite like that. If it did, you are going to get a new short block. Thankfully it appears you are under warranty. BTW, At times there is no CEL for that issue as well and it happens just like you described.

I have found that I get all kinds of drips and leaks under my truck anyways... So it might not be related. I am having trouble coming up with thud, low power, water leaking issue.

Please let us know what it is when you figure it out. I hope it is something simple.

Thanks! I did pop the hood........nothing obvious and no fluids on underside of hood or anywhere else visible. It's really odd to me.......engine wasn't under any stress at all.......literally turning left from a stop........

I will absolutely report back. I hope it's some sort of hose that I can't see.........

See what it does in the morning and look at it when it is light outside. Might be easier to spot something then.

I am assuming you have checked the oil? Or at least the oil level?

I would also check your other fluids at this point too. And drain the DFCM to see if there is water in the fuel.

Oil level looks fine.....and never had water in fuel.........along with it being checked each oil change, I check it every few fill ups. Truck is very lightly used (it's a commuter mostly..........just wanted to only buy a truck once). We will see what the am brings........

Sounds like a plan... I hope it is something simple. At least you didn't make any oil and you routinely drain the DFCM....

I treat my truck the same way and have the same feeling about it. Get a nice one and keep it for awhile. A SRW F350 is more truck than I need on a daily basis and can handle anything else I need to haul or pull...

IF I ever end up getting a large 5th wheel, I'll probably upgrade to a DRW...
