Transmission Temp

On a 2000 F250, what should the average temp read on the transmission. On a phone, so it's hard to search.

Mine has been sitting at 190-200 all summer long with no problems. Now it seems to like 210 and a little above and it's cooler outside than it has been.

Now the times I have really noticed have been in city traffic. About to get back on the highway, so I'll see where it goes.

Tempature and any suggestions would be appreciated. I can't remember the Trans guy name here, but hopefully he will chime in.

Most will say around 170 is the ideal temp and that will fluctuate with driving condition and any type of mods you have done. In the summer with temps in the high 90's low 100's mine reaches 170 with in-town driving but drops a little on the highway. In the winter mine runs a bit cold as the 6.0 cooler keeps the temps down. I think the max recommended by Ford is around 220

If you are seeing temperatures that high and you aren't towing something is wrong. With the stock cooler I never saw higher than 170F unless I was towing.

I'm positive Mark will find this and give you real advice but in my opinion you shouldn't be running that hot unless you are towing.

Sorry I forgot to mention I'm constantly hooked up to a trailer. My towing weight is 5,000lbs to 9,000lbs daily. I never drive my truck without a trailer.

That seems normal to me then. Those would be my temps if I was towing that load with my stock cooler set up.

Those temperatures are normal. Nothing to worry about.
