E4OD vs. C6

E4OD vs. C6
I have a 1989 F350 with the C6. Never any issues with it but sometimes I wish I had an OD. But it seems like there are issues with E4OD. So what's the difference? Can I pull out my C6 and install and junk yard E4OD? Plus the computer?
