Why do you feel the need to switch? I was just talking to the owner of a tranny shop here in town, about servicing my C-6. We were B S ing awhile and he has been in the tranny business for 27 years, and he was saying how he loves these overdrive trannys he said he is making more money now than ever, guys like me with the old tried and tested trannys don't do much for him, he can make twice the money doing no more work on these newer trannys.
You can switch them, a big block (read: 460) E40D tranny would fit the bill. You'd want to get a '95 (i think that is year) since earlier E4s sucked.. You'll also need to search and find a computer module that will control the E4OD, as it is normally controlled by the computer. I am fairly sure a few aftermarket companies make them.
