Looking at the area to relocate too and just wondering what people think about it, how things are. Looks like a fairly inexpensive housing market, okay for jobs too. Any input?
If you can get on base either government or contract it pretty good. (I'm contractor on cherry point) there are a lot of doctors/lawyers and so on. Also a lot of retail stores, and restaurants. I avoid Jacksonville if possible and stay to my little town of stella.
Well here's a shot of what we've been working on when weather would allow. We're really into Christmas lights, kind of an addict truthfully. Shari and Tim surprised me with our first computer operated light controller from www.wowlights.com we've been using other controllers from home depot that you have no say so on what the lights do.
We turned the lights on last night for the first time, just to see what they looked like. And start playing our show the evening of Thanksgiving.
Jacksonville is a decent place not a high crime rate, low Temps are normally mid teens but normally the cold if winter is 25-35 degrees. Normally don't get much snow like 1-3" at the most. But last year we did get hit 3 times with 5-12" each time. There is 2 military bases in Jacksonville so alot of young marines in the aera. Entertainment wise there is the usual movie theater and malls if your into that, then there is drag strip and round track between Richlands and Jacksonville. Then my personal favorite and also my "hobby" besides riding the bike, mud racing/bogging. There is a track located just outside of Jacksonville that I race at aswell.
If you have any other questions I'll try to answer them, if I can't I'll try to find a answer.
Mine didnt start well at all, we visited my papa who was in the icu at new Bern hospital, before heading to Goldsboro for my wife's family get together. Bout 11:15 last night I got a call from my dad that papa had passed away. He had been on dialysis and a few other issues for 3-4 years now. So I'm able to find a slight comfort knowing he is no longer in pain.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody, be safe in your travels, hope everybody is safe n warm.
Sorry to hear about your PaPa Larry, your family is in our thoughts n prayers.
Looks like our Christmas light show that we usually start the night of Thanksgiving is going to be delayed by a day. Our new controller has a dead channel, and the holiday has slowed things down a day.
