How many miles on the truck, if over 100k have the plugs ever been changed? Are you idling alot or just putting the pedal to the floor from every start how are you driving the truck? 8 mpg is really low if the truck is healthy and running properly while empty. 5 star tuning does a great job tuning these motors and the drive by wire leaves alot to be desired on the 3 valve motors, but don't expect 100hp or 10 extra mpg. I think the yuning will make a big difference for you but you need to make sure truck is healthy first

What kind of power and mileage are you expecting?
Keep in mind you have the smallest motor offered for that truck, which is also offered on 1/2 trucks and SUVs.

Dont expect to get much more power out of it, and 8mpg is just slightly below what I would expect from your truck if its the single cab long bed in your picture. 10mpg is where I would guess you can get regularly with maintenance and good driving.

Good news is you have the 3V which is better than the 2V.

Hi Chris. I assume you meant 8 MPG, not MPH. That isn't good.

Aside from the 5.4L, what can you tell us about your truck? Is it lifted? What size tires are you running? Do you know your differential ratios?

My 5.4L normally returns 13-15 MPG in normal mixed driving, mostly rural highway and some city. I dropped mileage a little (about 1 MPG) by going to a slightly larger tire (285/70R17E).

Hi guys I have 82 k all stock except for cold air intake that I put on at about 45k don't care for the add noise that the cold air intake provides but can live with it I drive normal don't beat up on it have 410ls gears have owned truck since 37k I would be happy with 10 or 11 i do understand that its a work truck but my 1993 would get 13/14 and I had that truck from 72k - 225k

How many miles a day do you put on the truck? City or highway driving?

Do you have any issues with the way the truck starts, stops or accelerates?

if you are looking for better MPG, change the 4.1 gearing.
