Hey all, I'm looking to do the high idle mod on my 2005 6.0
I've posted here because I've read somewhere that the excursion is different than the truck.( not sure if that's accurate)
Hoping for guidance for dummies, maybe pics etc.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
No biggie. Of course, make sure you tap a fused circuit that's only hot in "Run" to power the dash switch to the PCM input. Driving with the switch on doesn't do any harm. The 12V signal is only an enable command to the PCM, and the high idle event is initiated through software/programming. The PCM has to prove various conditions(speed=0, foot brake=off, trans not in any drive gear, etc) before idle speed is increased. Parking brake has no effect on mine.
I did some research on doing this mod to my 7.3l. Has anyone done it and which method did you use? Looking for pros and cons. Found the "module" that splices into the accelerator pedal wires but not sold on that yet.
I have so extra wire pig tails (foot or so of wire with a pin that will plug into the factory harness) if you need one. Let me know. PM me works best as I don't check the site very often. I have done this mod on our 6.0 Ex and works great!
When I had DP Tuner do my chip I had him put a high idle in the program, I dont need 6 settings, so I got 1 economy, 2 normal, 3 high Idle 1400 RPM's 4 50 HP 5 100HP and 6 150HP. Works awsome I love it, now I have to do the injectors, Smoke's like a coal train on 6, then I will have them reprogram it for me, A little smoke means buisness when you pull up to a cummins with stacks.
