Beginner electrical...

I had a stereo and an amp. I bought a new stereo and can't get sound one. I have power to the stereo and the amp. With a bug light, should I have light when testing the speaker wires? I got nothing on the speaker wires out of the stereo, or coming out of the amp.

Thanks all.

Check your amp for fuses, make sure the fuses are still good.

Do you have all your grounds grounded solidly?

A test light won't show anything on any sort of speaker output.

Can you please describe how you have everything wired? What kind of configuration are you trying to accomplish? Are you using a line-level preamp into a speaker driver? Is this a mono, stereo, or bridged amp? What speakers are where? Does your amp accept any sort of switched turn-on control from the stereo? Does your amp have gain control? Maybe it's best for you to simply list model numbers of both, and describe what you're trying to do.

How have you determined you have power to both the stereo and amp (I assume some sort of power indicator or display)?

Sorry guys. I neglected to connect the wire to the system control terminal of the amp. It tells the amp to turn on. Now I have wonderful sound.

Thanks, guys.
