Hey all, Thanks for your recent suggestions. But i've run into another problem maybe someone can help. I installed a new amp to run 2 subs. Installation went fine, unit powered up and everything looked great, but I was getting nothing out of my subs. I could tell they were getting power because the cones would move(barely). Can anyone think of why this might be happening? All my fuses are good, ground good, remote good,12V power good, all other speakers still working right......just no BOOM!! Please help. Its in a 1999 F150. Thanks
I did play with the gain. This amp only has 3 adjustments. Gain, treble and bass. How do I figure out what my head unit level is? Im using the OE HU. Thanks

What amp? What subs. Need exact models.
Are the RCA run from the correct location on the deck? Sensitivity and/or Bass Boost up? SUB level turned down via the deck? Bass all the way down on the deck? Dunno....
OK Im using the factory stereo provided by Ford, a am/fm/single cd player. I have a 2 channel 240 watt pyramid amp and 2 12" Jenson subs. Thats it. The amp speaker wire connector has a L and R channel side which are hooked directly to subs. I have no RCA outputs on the rear of the OE deck. he remote wire(from the amp) is spliced into the remote wire of the deck. I have 8 ga. power wire running to amp with 2 inline fuses(1 30a and 1 10a), 10a-attatched to power wire on amp, 30a came with wiring kit sold with amp. I get power to amp, but no sounds from subs. You can see them move just a little bit. IF you can offer any help I would appreciate it, as I seem to be install illiterate.

It sounds as though your amp is getting no signal to amplifiy. Since you have no RCAs with the factory deck, you need to get a converter that allows you to use RCAs or you have to have "high level" speaker connections IN to the amp to give it the signal to amplify to send to your subs. In other words, you have to splice into existing speaker wires to get this signal for your amp or get the converter to use RCAs. You are correct in that your amp is powering up and all, but if it isn't getting the signal to amplify, then it will never produce sound through your subs in a million years.
So will it matter which speaker wires I splice into? Where can I get a converter and what is it called,?,or just a converter? Thanks for your help
You can splice into the right rear negative and the left rear positive. It is probably easiest to do it at the back of the head unit. You only run the one speaker wire into the amp's HL(speaker level) input, if it has one. If not, buy a Line Output Converter, commonly called a LOC. It will allow you to splice into the same speaker wires and run INTO the converter, and then you will use RCAs from the converter to your amp's RCA inputs. I recommend the LOC even if your amp has the HL inputs.
