Problematic starter

So, i have a question for y'all: my 1993 f-250 starter has gone out. Now, I spoke with my parents (since I bought it from them), and it turns out that the starter goes out fairly ofter, once every few years. Why might this be? If you need more info be glad to let you know what you need to!

Could be the quality of the replacement starters. Actually a "few years" is a good lifespan for some of the crap that is out there for sale. Some won't even outlive their 90 day warranty!
