2002 7.3 No start when hot
I need help diagnosing a problem I've been having with my truck. I good with keeping it up but this is a little out of my league, and all the help I can get will be appreciated.
I have a 2002 7.3 with 129,600k.
After driving my truck for an extended period of time, I would shut it off and it would leave me stranded in a parking lot, or at home because it wouldn't start until it cooled all the way down. It runs great when it does run but now I can't drive it more the 30 minutes because the motor will completly shutoff and won't start until it cools. It happened twice on me, both times on the way home from work on the freeway. At first I changed the oil, changed the fuel filter, and did all basic maintenance checks. It was all a shot in the dark that it would fix the problem. So after some research it lead me to the CPS, IPR, HPOP, etc. Yesterday I went and bought a new CPS, but before I swaped it I took it out for a drive to get it warmed up and shut it off to let sit for about 15 minutes. It would crank but not turn over. I replaced the CPS and it fired right up, took it for a drive and ran great. But when I went try it again about an hour later, it's having the same problems. So I don't know if its electrical, or the IPR or HPOP. I can't find a 7.3 guy around where I live who has experience with this problem. Thank you guys, anything will help!!!
