Hi all, I was looking for advice on upper control arms for my 2002 ford ranger 4.0l 4x4. Both ball joints are shot on my new to me truck,so im changing em out.
Instead of buying the cheaper crap at advance auto for replacements,(im gonna use rock auto) and im going to get moog upper control arms.
I have a two piece upper control arm on passenger side, the drivers side is one piece. The driveworks photo is of the correct part, but im wondering if moog changed the passenger side to a 1 piece. Its a new to me truck,so I don't know if the correct part is even on there
If you look on Rock Auto, you'll see that Motorcraft even offers a 1-piece upper right control arm. I looked into this for my Explorer and found that some people switched over to the 1-piece. I was never able to find a good explanation as to what allowed the switch. That's about all I know.
Just last week I got both uppers and lowers from RockAuto in the one piece design for my 2000. Look good, have the grease fittings that some don't.

I had new UCAs and LCAs installed this summer on my '98. I ordered all the parts from RockAuto and then paid an experienced shop to do the labor. I chose to use the Moog one-piece UCA design.
FWIW, the shop that installed my UCAs and LCAs this summer also needed the cam and bolt kit (#K80065 referenced in the PDF) for both sides. To be honest, the installer wasn't all that impressed with the quality of the kit. He said it was usable, but he feels that Moog should be using a higher grade of hardware, given its purpose.
