I have a '98 B2500 that had both upper control arms replaced about a year and a half ago. In that time I have driven about 30,000 km.
I recently put new tires on the truck, and at that time the mechanic informed me that I needed a new passenger side upper control arm and ball joint. He mentioned that it was all one piece.
I am a little disappointed that the reinstalled suspension piece hasn't lasted longer than it has. Unfortunately the shop that installed it only gave it a short warranty.
Does it sound feasible that I should require a new one?
For the record, I live in Ottawa, ON where they liberally coat the roads with salt for even the smallest snowfall.
I noticed yesterday that the rubber boot covering the uppercontrol arm / ball joint had about a 1" tear in it. I am presuming that this would have lead to the rapid deterioration of the part.
