Carter YFA identification
I've searched the WWW and could not find an answer...
I have a 1974 F250 4.9l with a carter carburetor. My truck is spewing out thick black smoke (worse than my diesel!). Plugs are correct motorcraft gapped at .044". I have it timed at 10 BTDC. The previous owner took the carb apart and attempted to clean it, however, did not rebuild it and/or may have not put it back together correctly. I am trying to identify which carb I have, however, the numbers are right on the casting seam (?) and appear to be 60640, or 06640, or something similar (a search came back with nothing) It does have 6-2228 stamped on the opposite side. I believe it has a manual choke and does not have a dash pod. With so many model numbers, I have a few questions:
1. Which carter carb is the right one for my truck (or range of model numbers)?
2. Which carter carb, if any, works best for my stock truck?
I want to ensure that I order the correct rebuild kit for the one I have, or look at the option of picking up the correct carb (or better) for my truck.
Thanks for all the knowledge shared!!!

I currently have the Carter YF 6646S (Motorcraft tag D4TE-ACA), which also has 6-2228 on the casing.
It appears that I should have either the 6532S or the 7005S (since my truck is 3spd, no A/C). Not sure at this point what the difference is between the three carbs mentioned.
The 7002S and the 7006S may work as well.
