anyone know how to build a wood flatbed for 78 f-100
I don't know about plans for one but my 64 had a home made flatbed that I switched onto my 76 when i bought it. Its pretty basic made up of a grid of steel C channel for a frame that the planking is mounted to. Then when I switched it over to the 76 I just used 4x4 posts running down the frame rails w/ 2x4 spacers at the low spots. Not sure if have any pics of i but I'll look. If you need more help on it let me know.

I have a steel framed flatbed on my 78 F150 with a wood floor. It originally had 2" thick oak planks but they were rotted so I replaced them with 3/4" green treated plywood. I have the plans for it in PDF format if you're interested.
If you must go with wood, here's what you could do. Start with 2 or 3 4x4s across the frame at the mount points in front and behind the axle. Lay 4x4's 2' O.C. lengthwise on top of those. Cover that with 2x6 boards and you're all set. You can put an edge board around the outside if you like, too.
Just a thought.

Hi Folks,
I'm planning a flatbed for a recently aquired "farm fresh" '78 F-150 with a toasted box. I've got a homemade flatbed on a utility trailer, and the trailers running gear, made from a 30's car FRONT end, is also toast. I want to combine the two for a flatbed Ford with four foot stakesides. If it turns out nice, I may replace the 300 six and truck four spd with my 351 C and sideloader tranny.
kjkozac2, if you've still got that PDF of your flatbed plans, I'd be interested in traking a look at it. Any others with photos showing the bed-to-deck interface, I'd appreciate a look as well.
