knock sensor
broke knock sensor removing engine could jump it out does anyone know if it's a normal open or closed switch would like to replace posted in classified section for part unable to find locally. thanks

It will set a code but no CEL on the dash. It detects engine knock(pinging) and tells the ECU to retard the timing. My 89 F250 with the 4.9L engine ran just fine with out a knock sensor over a year. I finally found a good one and installed it, I have not noticed any difference running besides the knock sensor code is gone.
