So my truck will start up just fine cold, but when its hot it wont start at all but when i let it sit and cool down itll crank over and slowly fire up, I talked to one of my instructors today about it at auto school cus im so new to diesels and he says its a oil pressure issue because it only happens when its hot and oil is thinner and wont work the injectors, but thats all i could get out of him for today. So has anyone else had this problem or know where to start ? like common issues
what year/engine?
if it is a pre 94 with idi engine it most likely has a worn out injector pump.
if it is a 94 newer with a powerstroke it could be a whole list of things.
oh sorry its a 95 turboed, i thought this all started when i replaced my fuel pump cus after that is when i started haven the issue more but then i remembered i also changed the oil to 15w40 like it says so maybe the last guy put in like 20w50 to help this issue. But id still like to fix the problem, just adding more to the storey if it helps
it could possibly be low fuel pressure.
post up in the 94-97 powerstroke forum down in the diesel section, the guys there will get you running in tip top shape.
