Power telescoping/folding mirrors

Been having intermittent issues with my mirrors not folding in/out. Decided to dissect one and see how serviceable that are.... To my amazement, with a little time and patience, you can pull the whole mirror apart and service all the parts. The motors are common motors and can easily be found at grainger. I did the drivers side while on the truck, but the passenger one will be done off the truck and I will photograph and do a thorough write up in the near future.

Drove through the car wash last week and on of the rollers pulled my passenger mirror out from folded position violently. Now it's not working at all. Car wash agreed to have it repaired or replaced. So I prob won't be doing the write up as time is tight as it is and will just let them handle the repair or replace.

Not yet. They require three estimates.

Is this usually a problem? Asking because I just picked up my new truck with power mirrors (old truck just had the manual mirrors).

It's sporadic among these trucks. I have a habit of folding in mirrors nearly everytime I park.
