My brother has an early 99 f250 7.3 psd with a 6spd and the turbo went out of it the other day. I was wondering if an early 99 van turbo would bolt up in place of the stock turbo?
No, I don't believe it will just drop in I think there needs to be some modification to make it work. Someone will chime for the exact reason why, but have you looked into the rebuild kit from Riffraff. I just rebuilt mine and was pretty easy.
I have an early 99 turbo setting on my bench if you are interested. Had 260,000 miles on it when I upgraded to the late 99 turbo set up. Just throwing it out there.
If it is truely a E99 van turbo build date of 1998 and has a 4 bolt compressor housing cover and the same size compressor outlet as a E99 Fseries turbo then I think it will. If it is all the above I do believe you can bolt it up. If it has the larger compressor outlet or a 5 bolt housing cover it will NOT work! It will not mount to the syder.
He wants to upgrade his setup to late 99. Im piecing one together due to low funds i have up pipes, turbo, pedestal, still looking for a cheap spider. Is there anything else im missing?
I've heard that Clay can modify this order to your specs (38 instead of 38R) etc... Wouldn't hurt to call him and discuss what your after. You may be able to save a few bucks off the sticker price for his kit by swapping/deleting some items.
