99 turbos
So my buddies dad told me that in the first 6 months they made the 99 350 powerstroke they didnt use the garret turbo. Supposebly they made some other turbo that is supposed to kick ***. I just wanted to know if this was true?

Nope, all of the turbos on the 7.3L 94-03 and the 6.0L are made by Garrett.
He is probably thinking about the Early 99 turbo which spools slightly faster but it isn't something you can swap in to the later ones without going backwards.

So is that early 99 turbo much better? Just spools up faster and doesnt make any more power then the other one im guessing. And do you know why they stopped putting them on or why they did in the first place?
