CDR Source?
It is a 94 NA with 240k and the engine is using a quart of oil every 150-200 miles. I do not see blow by when the oil cap is off. With this much oil consumption I would like to have the "engine run away" protection the CDR is providing.
Is there a baffle available to precipitate some of the oil from the crank case gases and drain it back to the sump? $4 diesel is bad enough, $16 oil is too expensive for fuel. There are no visible oil leaks and the engine runs fine. Are there other places it could be loosing oil?
Considering you're NA, there isn't much in the way of vacuum, so it really doesn't do a whole lot, and the gasses won't run the engine enough to make any difference -- it takes a turbo seal failing and pouring oil down the intake to get a runaway situation.
You can come up with an oil/air separator if you want; I made one out of a piece of 6"x4" ABS pipe filled with fiber filter material; let the oil drain out of the bottom into a bottle(with a drain hose) and then I empty that bottle when it gets full.
It's captured a lot, but it's a lot easier to make that setup when you've a turbo... and it means a lot more.
I'm thinking you may need to run that engine hot a few times; apparently that can help oil consumption as the carbon gets cleaned off the cyl walls.
