.017. But better to use a dwell meter. 30 degrees.

Better yet, ditch the points and go to a pertronix. Or is this the truck your selling?

Thank you. And yes same truck but my boss convinced me to hang on to it for a while longer. Sorry for the rollercoaster. Had a radiator rebuilt and replaced a valve stem on the flat. Some spark plugs cane loose and I tightened them. Is that a common problem? Seems to run great for the time being

Yes it is a common problem when people don't use the correct torque specs. And a person who has not been wrenching very many yrs.

When something do it wrong it comes back to kick ya in the azz when you lest expect it.. Out on the road may be at night..

I remember years ago one of my neighbors asked me to look at his 80's ish Big Bronco 300 I6. Not running right. I fired it up and popped the hood. What was looking back at me was 6 twirling spark plugs. Twirling around like a person would do with their index finger. Checked gap and re-installed 'em. Ran great.

A place I had worked in the 80's. The office gal wanted me to chase some parts for the frontend loader so she gave me the keys to there go for pickup. About an 81 f100 I6. I cranked it up and died cranked it again started but did not take the gas very good plus was making a odd noise.

So lifted the hood and saw the carb bouncing around a top the intake manifold. Ha so much for the shop truck being cared for. I had the shop foreman tighten it up. And, I snap off with a little remark like geez how could this happen since it the shop truck. He just looked at me and slam the hood down and walked away..
