What is the gap that my spark plugs should have on a 390?

.032-.035 is what I have aways run on my FE engines.

A follow up question......what is the difference, in engine performance, of the .032 gap vs. the .035 gap? I see these ranges on every car I have tuned up, and always wondered if "tighter" or "wider" was a better choice?
