My 89' F350 stalls 9 out of 10 times when I go from forward then to reverse and vice versa. Could this be from the idle sensor, Im running out of ideas with this.
My pickup has the same problem. I have replaced the IAC, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and had the ignition timing fixed. But alas, no change. I posted this problem here before and some ideas were that some sensors in the transmission were causing the motor to not get enough fuel or the torque comverter was grabbing too soon. I think the main computer may be the problem with my truck. I hope we get some replies so we can figure out what the heck is wrong.
First off, clean the throttle body bores and flaps and the pintle valve for the Air Bypass...this will definently improve idle quality between engine load changes.

Check those brittle vacume lines that go to the EGR and Smog systhems. I would run new lines anyways. I am positive you will find a crack somewhere. Throttle body gaskets like to get sucked out too. they are less than 2 bucks and worth replacing when cleaning the throttle body.
