Is there anything different between the driver and passenger mirror motors? Such as a different vendor? Silly, I know.
For the second time my drivers mirror is nearly dead (I can assist the motor for now) so this will be mirror #2 but the passenger mirror is factory and still working great.
The mirrors work in tandem for most commands so there isn't much of a reason why the driver side seems prone to failure.
On a normal day, the motors run twice per day (leaving/entering my garage).
It's frustrating that I'm needing to do another full replacement of the drivers mirror a bit over a year later. And no, I haven't hit anything.
I also curious if there is anyway to disassemble to clean/lube them. Mine fold just fine, but my passenger side doesn't always want to extend on its own. Seems like something just needs a little TLC...
I have a 2011 F350 and my drivers side mirror has failed twice. Both times the drivers mirror started not to fold in, then work for a few days and them completely stop folding in and out. The first time it happened, the dealer had to take repeated pictures to ensure the mirror didn't have any external scuffing or damage but Ford replaced the mirror both times under warranty. I am wondering though, what it the reason for the drivers side to keep failing.

Same exact failure. Began to have trouble again two weeks ago but it would work full speed most of the time and now the motor is very weak.
My dealer had to take pictures last time as well. ESP replaced it last time so hopefully all I have to do is pay my deductible again and they'll replace it.
If not, the truck will get parked outside since the rest of the mirror works fine.

Should be fine. I've already looked it over and can't find any noticeable scratches, I just need to clean the bugs off when I'm ready to give it up for a day.
Just had both of mine replaced a week ago under extended warranty. Dealer had to take all the pictures and wait 3 days for Ford to finally approve the replacement. This one repair has paid for the cost of my extended warranty, service rep said driver side is $1100 and passenger side $1300 not including labor to install.
