I know you have a F100 and mine is a F1 but I put mine on the running board, inside of a SS box. I also have a drop down box that I may use in the future, but for now this is my set up.

With today's battery technology how often do you need to access the battery? I kept the stock location for mine but I did use a stainless steel drop-down box to mount it.

Jimmy,
There's a little more to the design that what is seen in that photo. I have since installed the hold-down bracketry and also a pigtail that goes up into the cab behind the kickpanel. This pigtail provides a remote connection for the battery to my digital battery charger and PowerAll devices. So if there ever comes a time that I do need to charge/jump the battery I can do it without going through the access cover or dropping the battery down.

I'm using a factory drop down box from an Ford Econoline box truck. Its held on by four bolts and two cables. Just have to remove one bolt and loosen the other three. Slide it sideways and it comes down.

We really don't know what truck you're asking about. This is what I did to a 1949 F4 with a stake bed.

Battery Box

Get a coke or pepsi cooler and mount it in the bed, makes a great conversation piece and a great place to stow the battery. Just screw or bolt the cooler to the floor and slip a plastic marine battery box inside, drill 2 holes for the cables, drop in the battery and done and now easy to get at if needed.

Suggest that you add that to your signature block. You will get better answers.

Hey Crewchief,
We removed the gas tank from behind the seat of our '50 F1 & put a little marine Optima battery in the space. It's easy to get to & out of the way.
It's good to see someone on here from San Francisco. My wife & daughter are out in The Marina district of San Francisco for a week enjoying life while I'm baking here in Texas.... Hmmm...

Let us know a bit more about your truck when you get a chance.
