Reminds me of a Valiant I purchased as a DD back in about 72. It was fine until I changed oil, and then it smoked like a chimney. Didn't surprise me as the "oil" came out in globs. So I not only had to run heavy oil, but that was the last year of the road draft tube so I found a PCV system off a later model and made it eat its own fumes. Made a huge difference.
So i found out today i have to replace like every gasket on the engine plus it most likely needs piston rings. It smokes like a diesel when i start it and when im giving it gas while driving
Ok..here's the fun way. Go to you local junk yard and buy a clean low mileage engine. But it in your truck and rebuild the one in your truck. If keeping serno's an issue. If not rebuild the junk yard motor and then put it in your truck. Then rebuild the other one and put it on the shelf. Keeping in mind that unlimited space in a pipe dream of mine.
Your response, 4 minutes after my post, suggests to me that you couldn't have read the explanation to which I posted a link, much less have Googled it yourself as I suggested. Nevertheless, here's a picture of how PCV is implemented on one Ford 4.9L. It is basically the same as in the diagram above on the V8 with the exception that instead of having the PCV valve on one valve cover and the introduction of fresh air via the oil filler cap on the other, the six has the PCV valve on the rear of the valve cover and the oil filler cap on the front of the valve cover. However, instead of clean air being introduced via the oil filler cap, in this case it is introduced via the hose that connects to the fitting just behind the oil filler cap.
Your engine may be set up differently. Or, someone may have altered it such that it isn't even hooked up at all or correctly. So you will need to get your head around how this is supposed to work and then discover how your engine is set up. No one can tell you how your engine is currently configured because it is highly likely that someone has altered it.
