Turns out I brought the truck to a small independent shop, and after a few hours, he changed the EGT12 sensor, (1 of 4 that are plugged into the DPF unit) and Voila.....truck went into a regen. I hesitantly towed my camper to Maine and back, and logged 1800 miles without anymore CEL....(knock on wood)
great news!.. if you have an android phone, get Torque Pro and a bluetooth ODB adapter and the 6.7 PIDS plugin and u can monitor the whole chain, see and reset codes.
I carry two of the EGT sensors, a nox sensor, and tools in my truck.

This was my exact problem with same dealer response. I ordered the sensor online and replaced it myself. Going to order a few more and replace the other three soon.
