oil leak
I'm looking for suggestions on common oil leaks.
A friend of mine has a 03 7.3 with under 150k milage. he has a oil leak in the valley of the engine. it doesn't leave a big puddle but none the less it leaves a puddle.
any suggestions would be helpful

Turbocharger pedestal o-rings, EBPV actuator, HPO lines, HPO pump are all candidates for leaks. Clean the valley with degreaser and watch to see where it comes from. If cleaning the valley isn't an appealing task, he could put some UV dye in the oil and see where it leaks from first with a UV flashlight.

thanks for responding so fast. i recommended those suggestion to him, as well as the UV light test. looking at it its wet from the front ( oil res ) running to the rear due to the incline of the engine.

One thing to pay particular attention to is the HPOP. There's a "non-serviceable" plug on the underside of it that's been known to leak. There is a service kit for the plug through a couple sponsoring vendors here, if that turns out to be the problem.
