Driver side in front of the axle tube. It's a 3/8 drive square plug.

So I used guzzles guide to do the change. Even painted the cover. I was expecting the differential to take 9 pints. I bought 5 Mobile quart bottles and even with the truck leaning to the passenger side it would only take about 7. I tend to be a bit OCD..... So that is bothering me.

Is there a reason for that?

Took the truck for a spin. Tight turns in a parking lot, up to 80 mph on the highway and all seems good. There might be weeping at a lower bolt. Don't understand why it might be doing that. Will check in the morning to see if it is an actual leak.

If so, I know what I am doing Saturday. Hope it is a result from overflow.

Not a tough job....fill plug dilemma aside!!

And thanks folks! FTE is great!

Follow up

So the "weeping" was just a result, everything is tight and dry. Very happy with the results! Going to check fluid capacity for the Differential to figure out if I missed the proper fill, though I can't imagine how I did!

Just a thought. Check to make sure the axle vent isn't plugged.

IIRC mine has never taken a full 4 quarts to fill it.

The amount of fluid the differential takes depends on what axle/differential the truck has - per owners manual:

F250/F350 10.5 Axle - 6.9 pints
F350 Dana 80 Axle - 8.5 pints
F450/F550 Dana S110/S130 Axle - 14.0 pints
