I have some questions Im new to idi's, not to diesel and Im doing head gaskets and studs and an intercooler while everything is apart how much of the compressor wheel housing is clockable for routing intercooler piping, I know I have to make a custom intake and pipes.
And how are the r and d cams for these idi in a street/towing truck with a 070 (compressor housing) garrett turbo with about 12-15 lbs of boost? is thier any benefit or is the stock cam fine? Im wondering since I will have the entire top end apart and its not much more to do a cam at that point?
I would highly suggest a cam. The stock cam sucks for a turbo, the statge 1 would do nicely. I think all our turbos are fully clockable, as you just loosen the compressor housing bolts and spin it to wherever you want.
