Another HPOP
July 11, 2013 replaced HPOP. June 26, 2014, Going down I20 in Dallas engine shuts off. Three days later Ford techs declare said HPOP dead . Looking at another HPOP along with stand pipes and dummy plug seals. Hopefully I can get some warranty relief on the pump. Do these things eat HPOP?

Good question. The invoice was being faxed to the dealership when I left. It was replaced by a shop in Elk City ok. That does overflow work for their dealership. The lady on the phone doing the fax said it was Ford.

Not to common for those to eat HPOPs, no.

Have you had an oil cooler done? Wonder if you have the old reservoir screen and it's torn allowing extra crap through.

Had ton of work done in 2012 which included new oil cooler, delete, blue spring, studs, system flush , whole nine yards.

It's somewhat common to have bad reman early pumps.

With a sudden failure I would look at the IPR first before suspecting a bad HPOP.

Agreed, this is why several users opt for the diesel site HPOP.

The IPR was replaced with the HPOP last July and the tech today said it looked brand new.

When I was looking for a drop-in motor, one guy told me the early hpop's had a plastic drive gear. Was it BS just like almost everything else he said?
