I am not a fan of the digital. In the winter, I don't like the fan blowing full blast when there is no hot water in the heater core. Has anyone gone from digital to manual and if so what kind of problems is there? Not a big deal but if its an easy swap I would do it. If it's remotely a PITA, I would not think twice about leaving it.

Thanks.

You realize you CAN still manually change the fan speed? On mine, in heat mode until engine coolant reaches 100* the fan stays on low.. then speeds up.

In auto does it not "delay" the fan untill the engine warms up! I know almost all other manuf do this.

On mine, when coolant hits 100* the fan goes to high, when it's cold here in Fl, those 3 or 4 days a year. :-)

I dont think i've ever used the "auto" setting.

Typically i either have it set on 90f and fan on high, or on 60f and max a/c w/ the fan on high.

i'm just hot'n cold haha

How does the climate control know the coolant temp? Is there communication to the PCM or is there a separate sensor?

If someone were to do an engine swap...

Maybe ECT data is on a standard OBD2 PID...

I like my digi controls. I almost never use the auto feature though, I just set the temp I want and then set the fan at like 3 bars.

I searched for a year for a low mileage rust free 4x4 7.3X Limited. Insisted on limited for the digital HVAC controls and the ability to control them from the steering wheel. Love that feature.

On a long drive the front air dries our eyes, i turn the rear a/c on medium fan speed and leave front on auto and front speed stays low.
