Starting with the 2005 model year, all Explorers come with AdvanceTrac traction control standard. I don't think you can get the LS diff anymore, even as an option. On the Expedition, the traction control is still an option, and so is the LS diff (of course, you can only get one or the other). Neither the LS diff nor AdvanceTrac are available on the Escape. Ford is considering whether to add AdvanceTrac to the Escape in a future model year, probably wouldn't be until 2007 at the earliest.

I bought a new 05 Explorer XLT Sport 4X4 yesterday and was wondering why not a single one on the lot had a limited slip diff.
Just for curiosity, I ran the truck through the Ford Sites "Build Your Vehicle" system and sure enough, no limited slip diff option is presented.
I suspected it was because of the stability control but now I know for sure.
If you think about the way stability control works, I don't think it would even be possible to have limited slip on a stability control equippied vehicle. For these systems to work, they have to have individual control over the braking at EACH wheel, and if you have two wheels locked together through a limited slip the system couldn't work properly.
