Considering 2001 or 2002

I am getting ready to purchase a used PSD 7.3 4 x 4 Limited, either a 01 or 02, What things are there to look at with these particular years? I have heard to avoid the 03 first gen 6.0 PSD. Was the 100,000 mile warranty just an option or do the all have it?

Thanks!

I have a 2001 V10, but I would suggust you get an 02 if you can. Lots of upgrades. Chrystal head lights, power passenger seat, radio controls on the steering wheel, automatic climate control just to name few. I was really pissed when the '02 came out and I had bought my '01 in Feb of that year. I really would have liked the auto climate control and the radio controls on the steering wheel.

The digital climate controls and the radio controls on the steering wheel would be nice to have. I have a 2001 Limited. Guess it would just come down to how much those features are worth the price difference between the two.

I think retrofitting the digital climate controls into a 2001 would be a major hassle. If that's not the case I would consider it.

I bought an '02 xlt limited with the PSD-best car I ever had. It is her primary driver and we'll be towing our boat with it the first time this weekend-can't wait. The climate control is great-having done lot's of research, the '02 faired better against the critics. The 100K engine warranty is standard and covers many of the engine's fuel and engine parts. Good luck-what kind of price range/mileage are you finding?

Thumbs up Looking for 02

thanks for the info! that will definitely influence my decision. I was going to look at on 01 tomorrow but I think an 02 will be the choice. The search begins! Looking for something under 50,000 miles in a limited 4 x 4 PSD. I want all the creature comforts. Towing my race car all over the east coast!

I'll second that!

I was in the exact same situation except I bought mine in august.

The '02 would be the better choice. In addition to all the features listed above, the 7.3 PSD got a slight power boost to 525 ft./lbs. of torque; which somehow allowed for an 11,000 lb. towing capacity as opposed to the 10,000 lbs. capacity for 2001. So if I were in your shoes, I'd shoot for the '02. Happy hunting!
