2004 6.0 cutting out on highway p2290

Hello everyone! Im brand new here but have gotten many great fixes off this site before. Im working on a 2004 f250 6.0 for a friend. The truck starts fine, hit the highway and as soon as you get over 70mph within a mile it starts cutting out just like your turning the key off and on! if you stay in the throttle sometimes it will clear up sometimes it will stall. ive gotten p2290 twice, low icp, ficm is 48.4, icp is normal until it starts acting up then it falls way below desired pressure, I haven't seen another thread with these exact symptoms so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Have you tried unplugging the ICP sensor and duplicating the conditions you get it to act up in?

No I haven't, isn't the icp on the back side of the passenger valve cover? I know on the 05 and ups its on the front. If I unplug it and it doesn't act up does that mean icp sensor or ipr valve?

On your year it will be at the back behind/under the turbo. If you unplug it, and it runs better, or you see oil on the end of the connector, your ICP sensor is bad.

If you change the sensor, change the pigtail too. Esp. if it's oil soaked.

If the icp unplugging does not cure your problem. Check ipr at hot idle. Also watch the ipr while driving should never get to 85%.

This happen to me before. It was cutting on highway but not all the time, just once in a while, the wrench light also came on. It was the IPR, no problem since. It was on warranty, they did change the ICP sensor but it did not fix my problem.

Hey guys, I'm new here as well. Ibo I'm not by any means a guru on the 6.0,s but I have had a similar problem with my 04 early build. My truck would do the same exact thing as yours except it wasn't speed related, more heat related. After driving for a while the truck would start acting up( cutting off and on violently). It end ended up needing the pmc wiring harness. Not sure which wire was bad but if you grabbed the harness and pulled on it in certain places the truck would die. This was the section of harness that went to the icp sensor and also the crank sensor.

I would also look at the screen on the ipr as well, especially if anyone's recently put an oil cooler in it.

I do not know if it was related but before the IPR, I had an aftermarket oil filter in my truck. The tec found debris on the IPR but he changed it since it was on warranty.

Anyway, no more aftermarket for me on this truck.
