transfer case HELP.....
transfer case HELP.....
I just purchased an 88 Bronco with a 302 and an automatic trans, and a borg warner manual shift transfer case. I was doing some minor repairs on it and decided to test the 4 wheel drive. 4 High worked great so I tried 4 Low, when I went to shift back to 2 high the shifter went real easy but I'm still in 4 Low. Any ideas what might be the problem, and what I can do to fix it, even if only temporary. I'm moving to Louisiana from California and need this truck running.
Sounds like a busted shift yoke. These cases were used in many Fords, 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks and are fairly common. A local salvage yard should have several. Changing the output shaft from one to another is simple, maybe a couple snap rings is all. You could take it apart and manually shift it back to 2 high and fix it later if you can't find parts on your budget.
