I'm new here and hope I am posting in the right area. I did try and check the tech guides before posting but couldn't find anything relevant. I have a 1992 Ford F150 with a 5.8 L and E40D transmission. The truck has a manual shift lever on the floor to shift into 4x4 and never had a problem before ...but now won't budge. The truck is more of a project and does not get driven much. I have gotten under it and lubricated everything but still it does not budge. IT seems to me that the engagement of the four wheel drive is all manual. Am I wrong could this be electrical related? ...or is my transfer case just froze? Truck drives fine in two wheel drive. Just was hoping maybe somebody else has had this problem and could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for pointing me to that link! I don't see anything broke on mine but I may need to take it apart and that will be a huge help. I had my girlfriend in the truck trying to shift it while I was underneath and I could see movement, maybe a fraction of an inch, at the shifter end of the linkage where I didn't see movement at all was on the transfer case end of the linkage. However thank you again! I may need that this weekend.
Maybe I've had too many beers! Very possible ...but I starting to think that I need to drop the cross member under the transfer case and give some persuasion with a hammer while my girl tries to shift. Yes No? Might reconsider this when I'm sober tomorrow. lol
