In conjunction with Autometer gauges I used an Autometer universal sending unit. So far so good - accurate and responsive. Make sure you get the proper Ohms rating sender for whatever gauge you use.
^ haven't heard many people using an autometer sending unit in our trucks. What ohm sending unit from them did you need? I'm a fan of autometer gauges usually it's all I ever put in my vehicles. But I'll be doing my fuel system shortly. So I'll need some sending units so I'd like to look into them.
Nice gauge set. I want to get a set of old classic faced ones for my next project. There's a guy on eBay that I got my one sending unit from for my 64. He has a lot of mustang tanks for sale all the time on there. Many people got his tanks and were satisfied. I didn't use the sending unit yet since I can't stay focused on just one project haha.
I have a new stock 10 - 80 Ohms unit I got from Macs and never used. Its $47 in Macs catalog but If you want it I'll sell it for less. Send me a PM if you are interested.
The part isn't a time machine. It's a basic rheostat requiring a good ground and lead connection. Then it is a tang with a head like a set of points that rides along a circular face. Wrapped with a subtle change in the number of coils. Needs cleaning unless it is just clearly shot to hell.
