Fuel sending unit

hello guys. Happy Halloween firstly. Secondly I am attempting to install an after market sending unit but it requires screws to hold it in when the original is held buy a circular retainer. Has anyone upgraded their unit and found a way to handle this? I'm very confused on what to do. Please help. Thank you

I'm assuming that you are going with an aftermarket gas gauge and the sending unit came with it? If so, I would contact that company and see if they have the screw on style sender. If they don't, I would recommend the gauge that can operate with the sending unit you have. I don't recommend drilling into the top of the tank. Not because it's a gas tank, but for leak purposes.

If the ohms were low, maybe you could wire in a resistor?

As an example, I installed an Equus gas gauge. I had to buy the model compatible with the Ford sending unit. Are you sure this isn't an option with your gauge?

well I found a fix. Speedway motors has an item called a fuel gauge interface module. Basically it's a translator for ohms. Here is a link to the part.

Yeah, I bought one of those also. Mine is to correct the constant bouncing of the gauge needle.

Was it fairly easy to install?
