My fuel gauge mostly reads full on my '03 7.3L. Occasionally (more often lately) it will drop to empty while driving until I restart it, then it goes back to full.
How do I tell for sure it is a bad sending unit and not the gauge or anything else in between? I don't want to go through the trouble of dropping the tank if it's the gauge. Are these the typical signs of a bad sending unit?
a safe bet is to assume the sending unit is done. . .I know i either need to drop the tank or remove the bed (i have heard both) any opinion on what is easier?
