I've seen an unidentified fluid (few drops) under my truck for about a month now ('66 cc lwb, 351w from '80 F150, C6 trans). Had a long drive a few days ago and noticed a dripping sound after I parked her; closer inspection revealed it's that lovely green.
Previously it was just a few drops, but that night it ended up as a lake. Went to take her out today and the dripping began at start-up. Took a jug of coolant to see the level in the radiator again and it's been going steady since.
I can't see the source, but it appears to be near the pulley closest to the front of the engine. I tightened all hose clamps near that with no change. I did notice if I squeeze the lower flex hose the dripping speeds up. There is a drop on the lower hose, but it appears to be run off from near the pulley.
Any suggestions? With it being 95 in NC today she's garage bound for now.
The water pump has a weep hole that once the bearing seals in the pump starts to go bad then coolant slips past the pump seal and out the weep hole. If that's the case then a replacement water pump or a rebuild of yours should fix that up. Take a close look and see if it is coming from the water pump weep hole.
Edit: A dental mirror or other small mirror might help to see in a tight spot...
It appears the weep hole is crying. I still can't see it, but disgraced make it look like the right spot. I replaced the fuel pump and alternator recently and from what I hear many of the diaphragms on these wear around the same time... wish I had known before re-installing the alternator.
Thanks for the help. Planning to replace next month and I'll try to post back.
