EOT sensor issue?

I am using a SGII to monitor my temps. The EOT is fluctuating several degrees during normal driving conditions. For instance this morning it was 80F outside. At highway speeds the ECT was 197F and the oil would go from 190 to 200F in just a couple of seconds. It would also read a little lower than ECT at times. Would this be indicative of a faulty sensor? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Recent changes:

- a new tune for the SCT tuner.

- flush and fill on radiator. I did disconnect/reconnect the the fan sensor, and also removed/replaced the thermostat when doing the flush.

- oil and filter(OEM) change.

Nobody has had experience with any issue like this??? I guess a better question would be what happens when the oil temp sensor fails? Should I see a code?

After the truck sits overnight (at least 10 hours) post what your ect, eot and trans temp sensors read.

Based on your description, it does sounds screwy.

Have you tried reseating the connector to the sensor?

I had similar issues with my ECT sensor. One minute it was 5 degrees off EOT, and the next it was almost 30. Pulled connector off of it and put it back on and haven't had issue for almost two weeks now. (knock on wood) Agree go with the cheapest and easiest first. Good luck.

Well....sensor connector seated firmly...and the wires look to be in good shape. Would a faulty sensor cause my symptom??

Could be, swap it with the ECT sensor and see if the problem travels with it.
