PO198 oil temperature sensor high code

Ok, so I have code PO198 oil temperature sensor high. I have an EDGE CTS scanner/monitor, and it shows my oil temperature readings from the very sensor going haywire, typically I start the truck up in the morning, and its fine. But after a while it heats up to 160-170 degrees, runs and drives fine, oil pressures normal, and then randomly the c.e.l. comes on and the temperature reads as 212 degrees and just stays there for anywhere from 5-10 minutes, then it goes back, reading normal. Starting and stopping the engine has no effect, it will stay on. Does this mean I need a new sensor or if theres something else going on? Also, I cant find a oil temperature sensor online or at the auto parts store...is this thing called something else? Thanks.

I had experience with one of the timing oil temperature sensor (EOT on the drawing above !) blowing up and there was no way to avoid the dealer. The engine has a maze of sensors and even mature NAPA technician had no idea when I pointed the sensor on the engine.
Doubt you will find the aftermarket sensor. Bite a bullet and buy the sensor from the dealer. I paid $149 with a discount.
But before doing that, make sure there is no loose, or damaged wire.

Yeah, thats the same problem I had...Oreillys and Napa had no clue what I was talking about. I even checked partsguyed.com and rockauto.com and neither have it. I guess I'll have to call the dealer...ugh. I will check the wires though now that riverrat gave us an awesome diagram. Thanks!
