Just finished installing the modified Duraspark distributor into my 223 six. Man that works slick! Got a new gear from Mac's and had it resized to fit the new distributor. Also had the 5/16" oil pump shaft stepped down to 1/4" for the pump.( the 5/16" rod cost me $1 for 12", enough to make 3 shafts!) Got the distributor, cap, rotor, wires, and control module from AutoZone. Lifetime guarantee! Got V8 wires to get the right length. The ones from the 300 six were too short. Distributor must be in the center on them. Same price! And I have spares in case...
The old six feels much more responsive, and no more lag! Well worth the cost!
Next up.... Alternator, A/C, new rear end.....oh, and rewire under the dash with a fuse box. Got most of the parts....just need the time!! =-O
DuraSpark ignition modules are identified by a colored plastic square above where the wires feed out. The most popular and reliable has a blue plastic square.
If this is what was installed, I'll edit the particulars into this post.
Well I've tried twice to buy a 300 distributor part 30-2610 and both vendors have refunded my money. Turns out this was probably a good thing since I don't think that's the dist. that I really wanted. Is there another part/model number of the 300 dist. that can be adapted to the 215/223 by modifying the drive gear.
